Bennett has 15 years of nursing experience. She received her Associate Degree from the Mary Black School of Nursing at the University of South Carolina in Spartanburg. She later received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Winston-Salem State University in North Carolina and her Master of Science through the Oncology/HIV Nurse Practitioner Program at Duke University in North Carolina.

Bennett is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as an Adult Nurse Practitioner and is an Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse Practitioner. She is also a member of the Oncology Nursing Society.

She has extensive inpatient and outpatient oncology experience, including chemotherapy infusion, stem cell and biotherapy treatment planning, and medical care and symptom management for hematology and oncology patients.
