June 04, 2010 - It's hard to believe that Relay for Life season has already come and gone. But it certainly did not slip by without Cancer Centers of the Carolinas leaving its mark!
Cancer Centers of the Carolinas sponsored five Relay for Life events this year and also had teams in each of those five locations: Pickens County, Greenville, Greer, Spartanburg and Oconee County. These events took place on three consecutive Fridays in May (May 7, 14 and 21).
Total, CCC teams raised over $33,000 for the American Cancer Society by participating in fundraising for Relay for Life. Final totals won't be available until August, as some fundraisers continue throughout the summer. The preliminary totals for each Relay are:
- Pickens County: $2,685.00
- Greenville: $7,567.07
- Greer: $5,550.00
- Spartanburg: $11,453.95
- Oconee County: $6,500.00
Relay for Life is the American Cancer Society's signature fundraising event and takes place in communities across the country every year. The purpose for Relay is to help create a world where cancer will no longer threaten the lives of our loved ones or claim another year of anyone’s life.
