Dr. Jeff Giguere Recognized by NCI
Jeff Giguere, MD, is acknowledged as the highest enrolling physician into cancer control studies (clinical trials)
It is with great pleasure that Cancer Centers of the Carolinas announces that the National Cancer Institute (NCI) acknowledged Jeff Giguere, MD, for having the highest number of accruals to a Community Clinical Oncology Program (CCOP) cancer control study in the United States. The objective of cancer control trials is to manage symptoms of cancer and improve the patients’ quality of life.
Dr. Giguere is a medical oncologist with Cancer Centers of the Carolinas. He has been providing care to Upstate patients since 1990. Dr. Giguere has been the Principal Investigator for the Greenville CCOP since 1995. His dedication, leadership and commitment to excellence in research has been invaluable and appreciated by his colleagues across the country and his patients.
The physicians of Cancer Centers of the Carolinas acknowledged Dr. Giguere’s recognition from the National Cancer Institute by presenting him with a plaque and round of applause at its last physician meeting. Dr. Giguere was truly humbled and honored by the recognition and was quick to encourage his partners to continue accruing to clinical trials as well!
Cancer Centers of the Carolinas was awarded a Community Clinical Oncology Program (CCOP) grant in 1995. The Greenville Community Clinical Oncology Program (GCCOP) is a community based cancer research and education program that offers national cancer prevention and treatment clinical trials for people who are at risk for developing cancer or who have been diagnosed with cancer. A CCOP is actually a collaboration of dedicated and committed people who give of their time, energy and compassion to provide all aspects of care for cancer patients, their families and people at risk for developing cancer.
