Dr. Jeff Giguere Elected President of the SC Oncology Society

January 1, 2012......Jeffrey Giguere, MD, a medical oncologist at Cancer Centers of the Carolinas, has been elected the South Carolina Oncology Society’s President for the period of 2012-2013.

The South Carolina Oncology Society (SCOS) represents the common interests of a majority of the oncologists treating cancer in South Carolina.  SCOS is a chapter member of the Association of Community Cancer Centers and an affiliate of the American Society of Clinical Oncology.  The mission is to provide advocacy for cancer patients and to promote standards of excellence for high-quality cancer care.

Dr. Giguere has been treating cancer patients in South Carolina for 21 years.  He founded the Blood and Marrow Transplant Program in 1991 and is the current principal investigator for the Greenville Community Clinical Oncology Program (CCOP).  Dr. Giguere was recently recognized by the National Cancer Institute as having the highest of accruals to cancer control studies (clinical trials) in the United States.
